Otium is a series devoted to a critical reconsideration of perfectionism through images from nineteenth‑century scientific ornithological graphics.
The cited illustrations present idealised types — visual constructions that have no direct correspondence in reality. The artist opposes them with hand embroidery as a gesture that allows for error and deviation: here imperfection becomes a form of resistance to the normative, while manual labor restores corporeality, spontaneity and presence.
